WHAT TO DO IN DUBAI

Hi m'lovlies!

As you're probably already aware, Lucy & I visited our sister in Dubai earlier this month and I thought it would be useful to create a blog post, featuring all our favourite things to do, the best places to eat and all the things you MUST see!

Days Out

1) Now this first one could easily fall into the 'Nights Out' category, as you're likely to end up on one, it's Friday Brunch! Every Friday of every week (excluding Ramadan), almost every hotel will host a Brunch from 12 noon until around 4pm. When I first heard about Brunch, I was a little confused as to why it is so popular, I mean.. it's just food right?

WRONG. I WAS SO WRONG.

Picture this: a room filled with every type of cuisine you could possibly ever imagine, unlimited alcoholic bevs and 95% of the room is the ca-razzzy British folk, who for sure know how to drink!

I absolutely love the Al Qasr brunch at the Madinat Hotel. It's around £130ish per person if you opt for the alcoholic package (which I can fully recommend). It may seem pricey but you get so much and more. You're basically paying for 4 hours of hardcore eating, drinking and dancing! Think Indian, Italian, Mexican, English live cooking stations with Mojito, Malibu, and Smirnoff huts alongside the biggest wall of desserts your eyes could ever dream of. The best bit? I've not even mentioned half of what this Brunch has to offer.

It's quite a dressy occasion so it's the perfect excuse (I say opportunity) to dust off your gladrags and snap some pictures with your loved ones. Do it for the gram!

Top Tip: You 100% have to book otherwise you may be seated on an outside table. Whilst the outdoors is stunning, it's far too hot - I swear you could melt. Al Qasr consists of 3 restaurants (which you'll have full access too), but I'd recommend booking the middle restaurant where all the sushi is! That way, you're never too far from your next snack ;)

2) Nothing completes a holiday quite like a day at the beach. But of course, this is Dubai and the beach is done a million times better. There are a few beaches in Dubai but my personal favourite is the Jumeriah Beach. You can sunbathe, complete an obstacle course and ride a camel all in a days work!

The obstacle course is called Aqua Fun and it's basically a huge inflatable float with slides, rock climbing and ropes. Even cooler, it's in the shape of the word 'DUBAI'! It's around £30 which allows you access for an entire day and it's such a fun day out.

Once you've got tired of throwing yourself into the sea, you can hang out in one of the gorgeous beach bars which serve soft drinks, snacks and loads of shisha. It's the perfect place to watch the sun go down, after a long day.

3) You've probably already planned to visit the malls in Dubai but if you haven't, you must. They're ridiculously big and exciting! The Dubai Mall is the largest mall in the entire world with over 1200 shops. Not only is it great for shopping, it's home to the worlds biggest fish tank, an indoor theme park and an ice skating rink.

Once you're shopped out, you can eat in one of the many restaurants that overlook the beautiful fountains that dance around the Burj Khalifa (the Worlds Tallest Tower!). The best time to watch the fountains is in the evening when the shows are on every 30 minutes from 6pm until 11pm.

Nights Out

1) If you can't decide whether to have a full-on night out or a chilled one, you can visit the Barasti Beach Bar which offers both! It's a vibrant bar with huge screens showing sky sports, acoustic singers, singing for everyone whose chilling and then there are DJ sets on the beach! It's open all day with free entry, serving food until 12:30am and closes at 3am on weekends. It's definitely worth a visit as there is so much to enjoy and loads of people to meet.

2) For a proper night out, get yourself down to Cirque Le Soir at the Fairmont Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road. It's totally bonkers with fire breathers, ball pits and performances all night. Everyone loves snacks so heres another reason you should visit - you'll find candy floss and jelly babies in the toilets (ikr!).

Places To Eat

1) Three words: The Cheesecake Factory.
This restaurant is everywhere (apart from England, why?) but you have to visit it whilst in Dubai. The service? Phenomenal. The portions? ..Oh my. The cheesecake? SOLD.
The Cheesecake Factory sells much more than just Cheesecake. It sells the most amazing starters and mains also. It will please your entire family, girl squad or boy band, as they serve pizzas, steaks, fish and everything in-between. If you visit (you should) tag me in your insta pic so I can see! (@Katy_DBT

2) You're feeling slightly worse for wear as you brunched yesterday and you're now in need of a seriously mean meal to liven your spirits? Yep, we've all been there! Check out Eggspectation - the land of eggsellent eggs! Scrambled, boiled, sunny side up - however you like em', they'll sort you out. The cafe is set in a gorgeous location with views that stretch over the beach. Inside, you'll find the loveliest waiting staff with an awesome atmosphere thats really cool and laid-back.

3) Elevation Burger had to make an appearance on this post. A trip to Dubai is not a trip to Dubai without stopping at Elevation Burger. Situated on Sheikh Zayed Road, you can enjoy a beef patty (or two. No ones judging here) anytime of the day as it operates a very convenient, 24 hours a day service. Stack those pattys, fill it with cheese and mushrooms and wash it all down with a chocolate & banana milkshake.

Other places worth mentioning!
  • Sky Dive Dubai - this isn't something I've tried and tested myself but every member of my family did it apart for me because I'm a big wuss. It's around the £430 mark but apparently, worth it! Not only is it an amazing experience, you also jump with an experienced camera Woman/Man who films your entire jump so you can re-live it all over again whenever you want.
  • Waters Parks - there are 2 main water parks that are worth visiting, the first is called Wild Wadi which has great reviews and the other is situated at the Atlantis Hotel on the Palm. You've probably heard about it, it features a ridiculously high water slide and the tube goes directly through a pool of sharks.
  • The Burj Khalifa - visit the Worlds Tallest Tower and tick it off your bucket list. From a viewing platform you get the ultimate views over Dubai. The Skyscrapers that have towered over you during your entire trip, will now look like ants from above! If you want the most spectacular views, definitely visit The Burj Khalifa.
  • A good ol' Bus Tour - some of my favourite memories of Dubai have been via these bus tours! The tours advise they should be done over a duration of 2 days so you can get off at each stop and have a good nosey round but personally, I quite liked looking at Dubai from the comfort of sitting on my own tush. You can learn loads and you'll literally see the whole of Dubai so definitely make the most of it. Be sure to take a hairband with you as it's get pretty blowy and trying to get a brush through your hair at the end of the day, is not pretty!

Dubai is one of the most amazing places I have ever had the pleasure of visiting and my recent trip was actually my 4th time! It amazes me even more, every time I visit. My little list is nothing compared to alllll the things you can do, but it's a list of all the things and places that have made my trips memorable!

If you lovely people have any questions about visiting Dubai, leave them in the comments and I'll get back to you!

Lots of love, Katy
