Venice

Hi guys!

If you follow us on Instagram or Twitter, you'll already be aware that I have the BEST boyfriend in the world as he took me away on a surprise holiday to Venice! I knew we were going 'away' but I had no idea it would be in a different country! We arrived at Gatwick and then hopped on a plane! It was such a rush and so exciting.

We spent 4 days there and Venice itself was exactly how you'd imagine. Orchestras filled the air with sound, gondolas slowly made their way down the canal and their was a constant smell of fresh pizza.

Adam and I have been together for over 5 years now and I always feel so lucky that he's chosen to be with me. Every adventure we have ends up being my new favourite and I cannot even put into words how appreciative I am for this amazing trip. If we weren't being completely blown away by the amazing architecture or Venetians way of life, you'd find us lent over the side of the boat hoping that would make it dock quicker (we were always running late for our next boat). If we weren't doing that we were laughing because we just missed our next boat. It was one of the most hilarious and interesting trips I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying!

The only thing I wish I had known about Venice is you may need to pack your wellies! On our first day, we got off the boat at St Marks Square and started to laugh as we saw all these people in ridiculous blue and orange plastic boots up to their knees. I mean, yeah it was raining, but really? It seemed soo over the top to have half their legs covered! We started making our way around by foot then all of a sudden thought 'where can we get some of those ridiculous boots?'. The tide was so high that every walkway in the centre of venice was flooded. To get into shops you had to practically swim over and then take a large step inside, as the doors were guarded to make an attempt of it not flooding. Shop owners have hoses and buckets trying to get the water out and it was absolute chaos. It was hilarious for us until our plastic boots broke and filled with water. Imagine icey cold sea water filling your boots?!! I know! Even my memories are just as cold as my toes that day. Even though it was a cold windy day, we sure made the most of it! Luckily for us, the sun came out for the rest of our trip and the tide was completely down so we only had one day in high waters.

As it was carnival season, there was so much going on in the centre. Outdoor parties, tonnes of people filled the street in fancy dress and live music blared. It was a fantastic time to visit and if anyone is thinking of a trip to Venice, book it!

Lots of Love, Katy x
